There are many ways to be a part of the Literacy Lubbock team and make a difference, such as:



TUTORING OPPORTUNITIES

Adult Basic Education [ABE]
– Tutor students to improve basic reading skills and comprehension in pair settings.

Barton Reading Program [Dyslexia] – Use the Susan Barton Reading Program to help students learn to read in pair settings.

English as a Second Language [ESL] – Tutor students to improve English skills in speaking, reading and writing. This takes place in a classroom or pair setting.

GED – Tutor students to pass the GED Test and get a GED certificate. Help provide tutoring in all areas of study for the GED. This takes place in a classroom or pair setting.

Math – Tutor students to improve math skills for test preparation and everyday use.

Lubbock County Correction Facility GED Program - Tutor inmates within the correction facility who are working on their GED.

VOLUNTEER OUTREACH OPPORTUNITIES

Tutor Outreach Volunteer – Contact tutors and establish the status of tutor placement, update information, and assist in tutor requests, questions, and comments.

Student Outreach Volunteer - Contact students to establish status of student placement, update information, and assist in student requests, questions, and comments.

Intern – Any student from city and community colleges interested in working within  our program in areas that correlate with relevant  fields of study.

ADDITIONAL OPPORTUNITIES

Early Childhood and Children’s Programs – Work with children of pre-school age in  Family Literacy events or Literacy Lubbock’s children’s reading programs.

Fundraising Opportunities – Provide help in a variety of areas for specific events.

Publicity – Promote Literacy Lubbock through networking using a variety of resources.

Testimonials Seek, gather, and record student and tutor testimonials toward the enhancement and support of the mission of Literacy Lubbock.

Newsletter – Provide seasonal help for website and/or monthly notices and announcements.

Youth Group Opportunities – Provide help with group opportunities in varied areas as needed.

Office Projects -   Provide help with mail outs, book stampings, preparing printed materials, and any other specific events needed.
